A recent collaboration between the Council Bluffs CVB, Pottawattamie Countywide Tourism Promotion Committee, Golden Hills RC&D, and Pottawattamie County Community Foundation resulted in the creation of ten videos highlighting the museums located throughout Pottawattamie County that didn't already have a video to help in promotional efforts. The museums include:
- Loess Hills Lodge Interpretive Facility in Honey Creek, IA
- Carstens 1880 Farmstead in Shelby, IA
- Monroe One-Room Schoolhouse in Walnut, IA
- Nishna Heritage Museum in Oakland, IA
- Pioneer Trail Museum in Macedonia, IA
- RailsWest Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs, IA
- Historic Squirrel Cage Jail in Council Bluffs, IA
- Stempel Bird Museum in Macedonia, IA
- Sweet Vale of Avoca Museum in Avoca, IA
- Walnut Creek Historical Museum in Walnut, IA
These videos will be used on multiple websites and social media channels to promote the museums and ultimately spark an interest in the viewers and bring them to visit Pottawattamie County. We hope that the videos will inspire locals to be tourists in their backyard and check out the museums they may have never seen before.
Local video producer Craig Carlsen created the videos. "This was such a rewarding project, and now you have another big ambassador for the museums in Pottawattamie County! I can't wait to bring my family so they can see them as well."
This winter, we will individually share these amazing videos with you and provide some additional information about each museum. There is so much history in Pottawattamie County, and we hope this project inspires you to go check them out! For now, you can check out the videos on our YouTube channel using the button below.
We want to thank the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation for making this project possible. To learn more about PCCF and their mission, visit their website.
