On Sunday, February 16th the Council Bluffs Parks & Recreation and the Charles E. Lakin YMCA have partnered to host the CB Indoor Triathlon. This event, like many others, make Council Bluffs UNlike anywhere else!

What makes this triathlon UNlike others? Well, a typical triathlon has a set distance you cover, where the CB Indoor Triathlon challenges competitors to travel as much distance that they can in a set amount of time. The competitors have 10 minutes to swim, 20 minutes to bike, and 15 minutes to run the most distance possible. This allows athletes of all ability levels to compete and have a great time!

Competitors also will have the unique ability to change their gear and attire in the locker rooms in between the events. So, there is no need to run or bike in a wet suit!

How is the distance tracked?

The swimming portion of the competition will be measured by pool lengths that you cover. Every time you touch the wall it will count as one length. For the biking portion, competitors will be riding the spin bikes from the spin studio. The bikes will be hooked up to a power console that will accurately track your distance in the 20 minutes allowed. On the last leg of the race, the competitors will be running on treadmills that will track the distance ran.

You can register online for this event on the Metro YMCA website. This event is open to competitors 18 years and older. It is $20 for YMCA members and $30 for non-members.
