The Cutest Race in the Midwest — 2026 Corgi Races

Sound the bark alarm and get ready for some serious tail-wagging action! The 2026 Omaha Corgi Races are sprinting back into the Metro on Saturday, May 9, and it’s shaping up to be the most adorable sporting event of the year. Hosted by the Omaha Corgi Crew, presented by the Omaha Sports Commission, and made possible with the generous support of MazzyCo Collars, this beloved annual event will once again transform Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park into a high-energy corgi coliseum.

Planning to make a full day (or weekend) of it? Consider staying in a Council Bluffs hotel to enjoy easy access to the races, explore nearby events, and have a cozy spot to relax after a day of tail-wagging fun.

Fans of short legs and big personalities are invited to cheer on dozens of speedy (and some not-so-speedy) corgis as they race for glory and the prestigious title of Fastest Corgi in the Metro. As always, the races support a great cause — proceeds from the event benefit local dog rescues, with the Grand Champion selecting which rescue receives the funds raised.

The event promises even more heart-pounding excitement, featuring featuring 10 corgi race heats, plus special races for senior corgis and corgi mixes, all leading up to the Grand Championship race. Whether your favorite is a lightning-fast sprinter or a happy little waddler, the Omaha Corgi Races deliver non-stop fun and plenty of “aww”-worthy moments.

More Than Just a Race!

While the corgis steal the spotlight, there's so much more to enjoy:

  • Vendor Village: Shop a paw-some selection of pet products, handmade goods, and dog-themed gifts. Vendor spots are available for $40, and local rescues can participate for free.

  • Food Trucks & Refreshments: Come hungry! Treat yourself to delicious local eats and sweet treats.

  • Mother’s Day Weekend Fun: Celebrate Mom with quality time, dog-themed accessories, unique home decor, and other great gift options — perfect for a springtime outing the whole family will enjoy.

Admission is FREE, so bring your lawn chairs, camera, and crew for a one-of-a-kind day! For safety and liability reasons, only registered racing dogs are allowed on site (ADA-certified service dogs are welcome).
