The much-anticipated Iowa West Sports Plex is officially open in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The facility is operated by the Council Bluffs Soccer Club and was named in honor of the lead donor for the project, the Iowa West Foundation.

The sports plex is a 75,000 square foot indoor turf facility that can accommodate many youth athletes involved in sports like soccer, baseball, and softball. Due to the flexible nature of the space, it has the potential to host flag football, rugby, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, and more! The space can also be rented out for private parties, conferences, and events.

The facility has additional spaces for speed and agility training from their partner Level 10 Performance, a full-service athletic training room, and soft toss cages.  There are also flexible spaces for parents and spectators to stay and network. The concession stand right off the entrance provides a convenient place for parents and players to grab a bite to eat without having to leave the facility. The upstairs mezzanine area has bleachers and bench seating for a bird’s eye view of the action on the fields, as well as tables for people to sit and work.

One of the goals of the facility was to build a space for both players and parents to connect and grow together. According to the Iowa West Foundation, “This is a place for fellowship, friendly competition, and above all, good sportsmanship.”

Join the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce and CB Ambassadors in celebrating the ribbon cutting for the Iowa West Sports Plex on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 4:30 p.m. Due to COVID-19, masks are required for the event and the organizers will follow social distancing guidelines.
