The Greater Omaha Chamber is working with their member organizations to develop a new transportation strategy for the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area called ConnectGO. In 2019 and 2020 they spent time talking with thousands of people in the community to learn about the strengths and challenges of the region.
A major takeaway was that there is a gap between people’s preferred method of transportation and their current mode of transportation. Specifically, people stated that they currently drive to work, school, or play, but they wish they could take transit, bike, or walk to their destination. ConnectGO’s goal is to reimagine and modernize our transportation system to reach four fundamental community goals: access to opportunity, talent attraction and retention, economic growth throughout the region, and stewardship of the transportation system.
