    Around the World Dinner & Auction

    Join us for an evening of community and fun. The Knights of Columbus are serving up foods from Germany, Mexico, and Italy. We'll have silent and oral auction items, a wine pull, grab & go gift cards, and a 50/50 raffle. We'll also have a special drawing for an "around the world" basket.

    Tickets are $15 for one person or $25 for two people. Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking on the ticket icon below.

    General's Ladies Fall Tea

    Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad, please join the General's Ladies for their Annual Fall Tea in the ballroom at the Historic General Dodge House. The afternoon will include lunch and guest speakers Patricia LaBounty, the Union Pacific Railroad Museum Curator, and Laura Dodge Luther.

    Go Wild for Conservation Beer Tasting & Auction

    Support land stewardship, environmental education, and low impact recreation in Pottawattamie County at the Pottawattamie Conservation Foundation's annual Go Wild for Conservation beer tasting and auction fundraiser.

    Friday the 13th Flashlight Tours

    6:00 to 11:00PM | Squirrel Cage Jail
    226 Pearl Street, Council Bluffs,
    Flashlight tours will begin at 6pm with the last tour starting at 11pm. Tours will start approximately every 15 minutes. We will have flashlights available but do recommend bringing your own flashlights.
    Strobe lights and fog machines will be in use.

    Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. Online sales end at 4 p.m. on September 13. Tickets are non-refundable.

    These tours are recommended for ages 13 and up. There will be scary decorations, some people walking around, and the tours will include the darker history of the Squirrel Cage Jail.

    Queen's 5K Romp

    The Queen's 5K Romp is a run for women of all ages. It is a 5K race with medals, tiaras, and bling! Let's inspire, connect, and have fun. Let's run and do good, creating funds for southwest Iowa!

    The Avoca Main Street Longest Table

    Join friends and neighbors at one "longest" table for a unique dining experience. A chef-hosted five-course meal will be presented sourced from our Avoca Main Street Farmers Market vendors or other nearby producers.

    Chef James Edward Calkins of Milk & Honey Restaurant is designing and executing the menu. McCarthy Trenching, a modern ragtime band, will provide entertainment.

    Happy Hour will begin at the Avoca Legion Hall at 5 p.m. Weather permitting, we will move to dine outside at one" longest" table from 6 to 8 p.m.

    Flaming Pumpkin Fest Part Deux

    Join us for our Second Annual Flamin' Pumpkin Fest. We will have tricks and treats for the whole family and when the sun sets, we'll go hunting for things that go bump in the night!

    We don't call it Flamin' Pumpkin Fest for nothing! We will be lighting pumpkins a blaze when it gets dark for a bit of spooky fun!

    We will offer a short class on Paranormal Investigating for those that want to participate and then will have a public investigation of the Jail with our team and the staff on site to help or answer any questions you may have.

    Schedule:

    4-6 p.m. | Open House (free to the public): Enjoy some treats and a historic tour of the jail (tour costs extra) while getting to know our team and members from the Historical Society.

    6-6:30 p.m. | We will break for dinner

    6:30-7:30 p.m. | Introduction, History of the Jail, and Paranormal 101 Class (must have paid ticket)

    7:30 p.m.-1 a.m. | Investigate with the team (must have paid ticket)

    14th Annual Community of Christ Caring Ministries Food Pantry Dinner & Auction

    In 2018, The Community of Christ Caring Ministries Thrift Store & Food Pantry served 2,060 families consisting of 3,686 individuals in need. The value of assistance given in 2018 totaled over $150,000. Without your support of the Thrift Store & Food Pantry, we would not have been able to accomplish this significant achievement.
