On July 18, 1924, a mob in Tehran killed U.S. foreign service officer Robert Whitney Imbrie. His violent death, the first political murder in the history of the service, outraged the American people. Learn about Imbrie’s life and death in this story steeped in adventure and history. Susan M. Stein is an author and educator. The majority of her teaching career was spent at Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha. Among her many accomplishments, she was the author of the column “Coffee Break” for the Omaha World Herald and wrote several feature articles for the Magazine of the Midlands.
