November 16 | 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.Council Bluffs Public Library
UNfortunately, this event has already occurred.
Longtime Glenwood resident, 175-year-old John Y. Stone, will visit the library attired in his Civil War uniform - having enlisted in 1861 and mustering out as a first lieutenant in 1865. John will regale audience members with some exciting “war stories” about serving under General Grant at Shiloh and Vicksburg and under General Sherman in Atlanta and on the way to Savannah. Dr. Stan Sibley is a retired teacher and school administrator. He has taught history and government at the secondary and college levels and served in leadership roles at the state and local level. Since retiring in 2012, he has continued to pursue his interest in history, including participation in a horse-drawn artillery unit, 19th-century cavalry school, and reenactments of several Civil War and Indian Wars era battles. Free and open to the public. Face masks and social distancing are required for in-person events and programs. Please contact the Reference Desk at 712-323-7553, ext. 2 to reserve a seat.
