Taco Ride

5:00 to 11:00PM | Wabash Trace Nature Trail
Iowa West Foundation Trailhead Park, Council Bluffs,
The Taco Ride takes place every Thursday evening on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail, from Council Bluffs, Iowa to Mineola, Iowa and back. The scenic ride is about 20 miles through the Loess Hills and ends with dinner at Tobey Jack's Mineola Steakhouse.

Slightly more than halfway between the trailhead and Tobey Jack's, many riders will stop at a picnic area, nicknamed Margaritaville, for a quick break and to join in a conversation with fellow bikers or to partake in refreshments they brought with them.

Note: The Taco Ride is a weekly event. It runs every Thursday evening during most of the year, weather permitting. Visit the Taco Ride website, linked below, for event news.

Starring Matt Vee, nephew of '60s pop-star Bobby Vee, you’ll hear songs like "Cracklin’ Rosie," "Song Sung Blue," "America," "Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show," and "Sweet Caroline." Neil Diamond has sold over 130 million records worldwide and produced musical hits spanning five decades.

As a Brill Building songwriter in the mid-60s, Neil Diamond penned songs recorded by everyone from Elvis Presley to Deep Purple and, of course, the Monkee’s classic, "I’m a Believer."

“This is not a tribute show,” says Tommy Vee. “This is a celebration of an amazing musical icon, one we all love and respect.

This Wonderful Life

7:30PM | The Arts Center at Iowa Western
2700 College Rd., Council Bluffs,
"This Wonderful Life" is a one-man play, beautifully acted by Jeremy Kendall. Based on the iconic 1946 holiday favorite film, "It’s a Wonderful Life," the production brings to life over 32 familiar people in an amazing display of physical and verbal virtuosity.

Kendall portrays the Jimmy Stewart-inspired George Bailey, and the whole cast of lovable characters from Bedford Falls including Clarence the Angel, Mary, Zuzu and all the townsfolk who rely on him to save them from the greedy Mr. Potter. Like the film, the play centers around the character of George, a man who has given up his dreams in order to help others, and whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence. Clarence shows George all the lives he has touched and how different life in his community of Bedford Falls would be had he never been born. Jeremy’s 75-minute tour-de-force is at once inspiring, funny, poignant and most of all, uplifting.

Sit back and get ready for a night of comic relief. Three of America’s funniest stand-up comedians (with numerous appearances on "The Tonight Show," "The Late Show," and "The Daily Show") join forces to showcase their original brand of humor in an evening packed with punch lines, clever writing, and hair-trigger laughs.

We welcome back Omaha native Pat Hazell who was one of the original writers for NBC’s "Seinfeld," a veteran of "The Tonight Show," a critically acclaimed playwright, and a contributing commentator to National Public Radio. Tony Deyo is a stand-up comedian known most notably for his sharp, quick material and near-perfect comedic timing. He has appeared on "Conan" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," among others. Rounding out the trio will be Pete Lee, who was the first stand-up comedian to earn a standing ovation on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
