Looking for a race that's equal parts adventure and scenic trail run? The Arrowhead Obstacle Trail Run returns to Arrowhead Park on Saturday, September 19, 2026, bringing a day of outdoor fun for competitive runners, casual trail enthusiasts, and families alike.
Set among the rolling hills and wooded trails near Neola, this unique event features a 5K obstacle course with more than 15 obstacles, plus a 1-Mile Kids Obstacle Trail Run packed with more than 10 kid-friendly challenges. Even better, all proceeds benefit the Pottawattamie County Trails Association, helping support and maintain local trails throughout the county.
Not Your Typical Obstacle Race
If you've avoided obstacle races because you don't want to crawl through mud, this one's for you.
Participants can choose to complete the obstacles or simply enjoy the beautiful 5K trail course. (The only obstacle you can't skip? Arrowhead Park's famous hills!)
Those looking to compete for a top finisher medal can enter the competitive wave, where all obstacles must be completed to qualify.
Fun for the Whole Family
Young adventurers can take on the 1-Mile Kids Obstacle Trail Run, recommended for ages 6–12 but open to participants of all ages. Adult chaperones are encouraged, though volunteers will be stationed along the course to help keep everyone moving safely.
