Join naturalist and artisan Dustin Clayton for this three part exploration of the art of basket making. All over the world, people have collected and used a variety fibrous plants to create durable, functional and beautiful vessels and containers. Over the course of three weeks, we’ll learn about the history of basketry, some of the uses to which baskets have been put, and what plants occur in our area that can be used to create baskets. We’ll cover some of the many varied techniques that can be used to create baskets, and using locally gathered materials, we will create baskets of our own.
