Hitchcock Folk School | Wood Carving

Join naturalist and artisan Dustin Clayton to Learn how to turn wood from Hitchcock’s forests into useful/beautiful items. This four-session class will cover the basics of wood carving using a limited tool kit. We will discuss: History and design, Woodland ecology/sustainable harvest, wood choice, tool choice, safety with edged tools, and tips and techniques for successful carving. Our primary project will be carving stylized versions of native birds.
