4 Ways You Can Go Wild for Conservation This September

Pottawattamie Conservation maintains and protects more than 2,000 acres of habitat including your favorite county parks: Hitchcock Nature Center, Arrowhead Park, Botna Bend Park, Narrows River Park, and Old Town Park. You can join them in preserving what’s wild by Going Wild for Conservation in September!

There's a little wild in all of us. It's that feeling you get when...

You finally catch the fish you've been chasing all morning,
You watch a child joyfully climb as high as they can in a tree,
Or you stroll through a vast expanse of forest or prairie...

At Pottawattamie Conservation, we know the importance of preserving what's wild - and what we all could lose if we don't make it a priority. We are building a better future for our environment and for you by using sustainable practices, providing education, managing land, and creating fun opportunities for you to enjoy our county's precious resources.

But we can't do it alone. Will you join us and help protect the wild things you love?

There are so many ways to support local conservation work in September:

  1. September 9th: Purchase tickets to our in-person Go Wild for Conservation celebration with food, beer tasting, a live auction - and meet a raptor!
  2. September 1st-9th: Join us virtually for a silent auction and instantly purchase select items starting September 1st.
  3. Anytime: Make a gift of your choice. Every dollar helps protect the habitat and develops new and exciting ways to enjoy the outdoors.
  4. Anytime: Come out and see us! Purchase a daily pass at a park of your choice or get an annual membership for as low as $20.

By going wild for conservation, you help provide field trip scholarships for local schools and support environmental education programs, land management and conservation efforts, and upkeep and improvements to Pottawattamie County parks.

“Prior to settlement, 85% of Iowa was tall grass prairie. We have less than one-tenth of one percent of it remaining, So whatever we have left, we still have the opportunity to be stewards of that and care for that.”
-Chad Graeve, Natural Resource Specialist at Pottawattamie Conservation
