Celebrate a Returning Tradition at Walnut's Sauerkraut Days

After more than 75 years, Sauerkraut Days is making its return to Walnut with a full day of free activities, local traditions, and community fun. From breakfast and farmers markets to donkey races, live music, and fireworks, there's something happening from morning through the evening.

Start Your Morning

Kick off the day with community favorites and family-friendly activities.

  • 7 AM: Fireman's Breakfast & Backpack Drive
  • 8 AM: Show and Shine Car Show
  • 8 AM: Scavenger Hunt
  • 9 AM: Farmers Market, Coffeegirl, and Sauerkraut Merchandise Table
  • 10 AM: Hansen House Trains
  • 10 AM: Bounce Houses on Antique City Drive
  • 10:30 AM: Register for the Bags Tournament

Test Your Sauerkraut Skills

Think your homemade sauerkraut is the best around? Bring it to the Sauerkraut Contest and let the judges decide. Entries will compete for both a Judges' Choice award and a Crowd Favorite award.

Not a traditionalist? Enter the Sauerkraut Recipe Contest instead. Create your favorite appetizer, entrée, side dish, or another recipe featuring sauerkraut for a chance to win in both the Judges' Choice and Crowd Favorite categories. To sign up contact Briar Schneckloth at 402-926-1096

Afternoon Fun for All Ages

The excitement continues throughout the afternoon with activities happening across Walnut.

  • 11 AM: Sauerkraut Contest
  • 10:30 AM: Bags Tournament
  • 12 PM: Dunk Tank & Jail Cell
  • 12 PM: Foamery on Antique City Drive
  • 1 PM: Bingo at Peace Haven
  • 1 PM: Hayrack Rides
  • 1 PM: Walnut Creek Historical Museum Open House
  • 2 PM: Bounce Houses at Fireman's Park
  • 3 PM: Donkey Races

  • 4 PM: Pinoak Horse Rides

As the sun goes down, the celebration keeps going with food, music, and a grand finale.

  • 5 PM: Dinner at the Legion Hall
  • 6 PM: Beer Garden Opens
  • 7 PM: Street Dance featuring Mighty Mayhem
  • Dusk: Fireworks at Dusk
