Kick off the holiday season at the 13th Annual Holidays on Main in Avoca, Iowa, on November 28, from 1–8 PM along Elm Street. This festive tradition brings families and friends together for an afternoon and evening of holiday fun.
On November 28, downtown Avoca will come alive with seasonal activities, local shopping, festive treats and plenty of holiday cheer. From pictures with Santa and gingerbread house competitions to a live nativity and evening music, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Explore Elm Street and discover activities around every corner. Browse handmade gifts at the vendor craft fair, visit participating downtown businesses during Sip, Savor & Be Merry, or enjoy classic holiday activities like face painting, carnival games, barrel train rides and a petting zoo.

A Festive Evening in Avoca
As the afternoon winds down, the celebration continues with the Trinity Lutheran Bell Ringers at 4:30 PM and the Bethlehem Walk and live nativity at 5:45 PM.
Warm up with a community supper featuring maidrites, hot dogs and mac and cheese at the Avoca Volunteer Community Center, available from 1–7 PM for a free-will donation. Then, stick around for the evening afterglow with live music from Riverside Duo at The Post/AVCC from 7–8 PM.
