St. Patrick’s Day is almost here, and that means festive fun, a little Irish cheer, and plenty of reasons to gather with friends. Whether you're raising a pint, enjoying live music, or simply celebrating the luck of the Irish, AAA wants to make sure the night ends safely for everyone on the road.
To help prevent impaired driving, AAA is once again activating its Tow to Go program across Nebraska and Iowa during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
A Safety Net for a Night of Celebration
From 6 p.m. Monday, March 16 through 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Tow to Go will be available to help impaired drivers get home safely if plans fall through.
If someone finds themselves without a sober ride, AAA will send a tow truck to provide a free confidential ride and tow the driver’s vehicle to a safe destination within 10 miles.

The service is available to AAA members and non-members alike.
“Tow to Go is one way AAA works to make our roads safe,” said Brian Ortner, spokesman for AAA. “We offer this program because too many lives are lost every year in drug and alcohol-related crashes. Although it is available to help prevent a bad situation from getting worse, we strongly encourage people to treat Tow to Go as a last resort.”
Plan Ahead Before the Celebration Begins
While Tow to Go is a helpful safety net, AAA reminds partygoers that planning ahead is always the best move. Designating a sober driver, arranging a rideshare, or planning transportation in advance can help keep the celebration fun and safe from start to finish.
Impaired driving remains one of the most preventable dangers on our roads. Nationwide, alcohol-impaired driving accounts for about 30 percent of all traffic fatalities, claiming roughly 34 lives every day, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
A Long-Standing Program Saving Lives
Since launching in 1998, AAA’s Tow to Go program has helped provide safe rides for more than 30,000 drivers across the country.
The service operates during major holidays when celebrations—and potential risks—tend to increase.
