Patricia LaBounty, the Union Pacific Railroad Museum curator, was appointed to the Council Bluffs Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors in July 2017. She served two years as vice president, and she just wrapped up her second year as the board’s president.
As a museum curator, Patricia has brought an attraction perspective to the board’s monthly discussions and the bureau’s overall outlook. Having worked at Council Bluffs attractions since 2006, her passion for spreading the word about what CB and Pottawattamie County offer to visitors and locals has held strong.
The CBCVB has accomplished some amazing things during Patricia’s board presidency. As president, she helped lead the bureau through an unprecedented pandemic. Despite those challenging circumstances, the bureau received the outstanding website and outstanding social media execution awards from the Iowa Tourism Office in April 2022. She helped update the bureau’s five-year strategic plan, and in January, she assisted in securing the Iowa Tourism Office’s designation of the CBCVB office as an official Iowa Welcome Center.
Along with many other accomplishments, Patricia kicked off a multi-phase project to convert the CBCVB’s lawn to native prairie, supporting Council Bluffs’ status as a Bee City. Her passion for native plantings and supporting pollinators helped bring this project to life, and we look forward to welcoming visitors into a natural Iowa landscape.
We want to thank Patricia for all her time and effort in helping the CBCVB succeed!
