Q: Introduce yourself and where you work.
My name is Abby Williamson. I am the Marketing Entertainment Supervisor for Caesars Entertainment, working primarily at the Mid-America Center & Harrah’s Stir Cove. I’ve been with Caesars for a little over five years.
Q: What does a typical day at your job entail?
One of the things I love about being in entertainment is that no day is typical! A great example is this past week: I started & ended my week surrounded by world-class athletes with the Yonex US Open Badminton Tournament at the MAC, and on Friday spent the day working the Ice Cube concert at the Stir Cove!
Some of the routine responsibilities of my job include monitoring the MAC and Stir Cove social media pages & responding to messages/comments, tracking ticket inventory & sales, creating content for both social media pages as well as posters & signs for the MAC, and working on marketing campaigns for upcoming events & internal promotions.
Q: What made you want to work in the hospitality industry?
I worked my first concert in 2014 (the Grassroots Festival with 311 at the Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park), and from then on, I knew I wanted to work in the entertainment side of the tourism industry. It feels great to be part of the team that brings such an awesome variety of events to Council Bluffs!
Q: What does this town and its tourism industry mean to you?
The tourism industry in Council Bluffs is so important to me! Like I said above, I got my start in Council Bluffs, and since then, I’ve worked concerts at all of the major outdoor venues in CB. Without that start, who knows where I’d be now. I am so grateful to the Council Bluffs Tourism Industry for helping me find my passion in entertainment & events!
Q: What do you wish more people knew about Council Bluffs?
As someone who didn’t grow up in Council Bluffs, sometimes you don’t realize how much there is to do here. From the local restaurants & shops to all of the nearby hiking & biking trails to community events, there is always something going on!
Q: What's your favorite attraction or activity to enjoy in Council Bluffs?
I love escape rooms, so The Cryptic Room is definitely high on my list of favorite attractions!
