Scott Hoffman has stepped into a new role as the director of hospitality and community engagement for the Council Bluffs Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Scott has been with the CBCVB since Fall 2020 and has a long history of working in Council Bluffs’ hospitality and meetings industry. He has worked for local organizations such as Harvey’s Casino and Hotel, which later became Harrah’s, the Mid-America Center, Horseshoe Casino, and Ameristar Casino and Hotel.
In his new role, Scott will manage the Bureau’s new Iowa Welcome Center operations. This includes ensuring that the Welcome Center is fully stocked with local, state, and regional information, running the Welcome Center’s volunteer efforts, and greeting travelers. Scott will work closely with our attractions, hoteliers, and event organizers to strengthen our local partnerships and continue to offer sales support for the Bureau. Scott’s mission is to ensure that each visitor has an Unforgettable time in Council Bluffs!
“Scott is tailor-made for this new role,” said executive director Mark Eckman. “Without hesitation, he jumps up to greet guests as they enter the CBCVB office and welcome center to obtain visitor information. Few people can set strangers at ease and welcome them as Scott can. Having worked in Council Bluffs for three decades, he is also an ideal liaison to our hospitality partners to promote community engagement between them and the bureau. Last but not least, Scott’s familiarity with our CRM (iDSS), pick-up reports, and other sales administration frees up our new director of sales, Kathy Rosene, so that she can focus on prospecting and lead generation.”
