After six decades, the Chanticleer Community Theaters is happy to be a part of the brand new Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center. This valued community theater has shared its love and passion for music and the arts on stage since 1952. Chanticleer Community Theater performs a wide repertoire of plays and programs to delight and entertain live theater lovers young and old. Come down to the Hoff and see their new show, Whine, Women and Song!
About the Show:
Whine, Women and Song is an original piece that is a musical tribute to the ladies of songs from the '30s. '40s, '50s, and '60s. Six lovely ladies will sing the songs and add lots of laughs along the way. The songs are well known for their beauty, charm, young ideas, and their angst. Some of the songs which will be performed include Pearl Bailey’s Legalize My Name, Lotte Lenya’s Pirate Jenny, Patti Page’s Old Cape Cod, Marlene Dietrich’s Falling In Love Again, Mary Martin’s My Heart Belongs to Daddy, Judy Garland’s The Man That Got Away, Ethel Merman’s Everything’s Coming Up Roses, Julie London’s Cry Me a River, and the Andrew Sisters’ Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
Also not to be forgotten are the wonderful girl groups of the periods, the Chiffons, the Shirelles, the Chordettes, the McGuire Sisters, the Dixie Cups, and the lovely Lennon Sisters.
