Join us on Tuesday May 6th as we journey to the Era of Steam Locomotives at our next Club Car Conversation! We will use photographs from our collection to explore the evolution of steam engines that built the Transcontinental Railroad and Union Pacific.

By the 1830s, the United States saw railroads as a tool to compress space and time. Railroads were used as a solution to unify vast territories of a new nation and America was growing by leaps and bounds. When the transcontinental railroad was built, the dominant steam locomotive in America was the 4-4-0 American type, but new steam locomotives were introduced to keep up with the rapidly growing nation.

Club Car Conversations are casual virtual chats that are free and open to the public, just RSVP to receive the link to join.
