Club Car Conversation - Union Pacific and the Olympic Games
February 10 | 5:30 p.m.Virtual
On Tuesday February 10th, join us and our Curatorial Intern Em Casson as we examine Union Pacific's connection to the Olympic Games including the UP-Excursion Trains that carried the Olympic Torch in 1996 and 2002.
This February the Winter Olympic Games are being held in Northern Italy in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Join us as we celebrate the modern Olympic Games and examine Union Pacific’s connection to this global athletic competition. Since the modern Olympic Games began in 1896, they have been held in the United States 8 times. Union Pacific has been involved with transporting material, people, and even the Olympic Flame itself for many of these games. Most notably in 1996 and 2002 Union Pacific assembled special Olympic Torch Relay trains to transport the Olympic Flame across the country in the lead up to games. Join us on Tuesday February 10th as we examine those trains and Union Pacific’s connection to the Games.
