The Polar Plunge® is a signature fundraiser for Special Olympics in which individuals and organizations raise money to jump in frigid waters to support athletes with intellectual disabilities. Participants can also register as chickens, raising pledges and participating in the event without getting wet.
Plungers and chickens must raise a minimum of $75 to participate. Registration fees include the opportunity to plunge, a meal, and prizes, with additional incentives for additional fundraising levels.
All funds raised by the Polar Plunge are used to support athletic training and competition, education, health, and leadership programming for 10,705 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners in all 99 counties of Iowa.
