Iowa in the Civil War

March 30 | 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Council Bluffs Public Library

"Iowa in the Civil War," will feature a first-person portrayal of Sgt. George Cruikshank.

Cruikshank, a soldier from Fort Dodge and Dakota City stationed at Fortress Monroe, wrote over three hundred letters to his fiancée and sister during the war. After surviving the conflict, he became a prominent businessman, railroad promoter, and political figure in northern Iowa.

The program uses many of Cruikshank's own words, facts, and opinions, bringing his compelling story and wonderful narratives to life.

This historical presentation is free and open to the public and is perfect for anyone who loves local and military history.
