Curious about working with clay? This 2 part beginner-friendly pottery class is the perfect introduction to the art of hand-building.
In this hands-on workshop led by the incredibly talented Christy Jaworski, owner of V. Ferme in Blair, NE, you’ll create your own small pinch pot while learning the foundational basics of working with clay.
Participants will learn:
-The different stages of clay (wet, leather-hard, bone dry, and bisque)
-How to properly wedge clay
-How to form a pinch pot using hand-building techniques
-How to smooth, shape, and refine your piece
-Basic surface decoration techniques and texture options
-How clay dries and what to expect during the firing process
This class focuses on understanding how clay behaves and building confidence with simple hand-building skills — no experience necessary!
After class, the instructor will dry and fire your piece back at the kiln. Participants will return at the 2nd class date (Friday, March 27th 6-8pm) to glaze your pottery.
