The 1885 Squirrel Cage Jail looks unsettling enough in the daylight. After dark, it’s even creepier. Join us as we explore the darker side of the jail’s history—the grim characters who once called it home, including axe murderer Jake Bird; the prisoners whose lives came to an untimely end within its walls; and the places where this supposedly “escape-proof” jail proved to be anything but. If you like your history with a little chill, join us Friday and Saturday nights throughout October for a special after-hours tour of the Squirrel Cage Jail. Admission is $15 and can be paid at the door.
