Council Bluffs has a new weekly bike ride ready to roll into your Wednesday evening routine. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or just looking to dip your toes into biking, this ride promises a fun and inclusive experience.
Every Wednesday, the ride will take off at 6:00 p.m. at The Railway Inn, near the start of the FIRST AVE trail. The route will vary each week but always incorporates the brand-new FIRST AVE trail. FIRST AVE is a former rail corridor located one block south of West Broadway. In May of 2023, the City of Council Bluffs celebrated the completion of the multi-use trail now known as FIRST AVE. The new trail enhances the operation of West Broadway, makes an essential link in the trail system, and provides the opportunity to redevelop obsolete industrial properties. Being a former railroad, the trail is mostly flat terrain, making it accessible to riders of all skill levels.
Want to make a night of it? Get to The Railway Inn and grab a bite to eat and a cold drink. Many riders plan to meet at 5:00 p.m. to enjoy refreshments before the ride.
