Featured Events for Kids and Teens
Exciting events in February for teens include shrinky dinks and a young writers workshop. Looking forward to March teen activities include post-it note gallery, hot glue creations, fluid art, and pressed flower bookmarks craft. On March 7 join in for a Wicked viewing, themed snacks, crafts, and more!
In February kids can drop in and create shadow drawings! February 21, Experiment with different ways to create art through motion, you will splatter and drag paint to create some exceptionally messy art! On February 25 toddlers can explore the arts with the Art-a-Doodle event.
March is packed with kid-friendly fun, including drop-in events like Play It, Build It, Create It, Make It, and Wild Card—each offering a hands-on mix of play, creativity, and imagination for kids to explore at their own pace.
Recurring Events for Kids and Teens
The library offers many recurring events for young learners and their caregivers to connect. Parents can sip coffee at playdate café while kids play, or share songs and stories during weekly storytimes and love on a leash. Don't miss yoga storytime that combines playful poses with interactive tales. Homeschool huddle provides hands-on activities, while the 3D printing workshops introduce budding creators to new technology—complete with a small 3D-printed project to take home. Little ones will love creative movement with Motion Works Dance and music with Lori Lynn that combines music, dance, and storytime for thirty minutes of pure joy. To top it all off, the Pokémon Club brings young trainers together to trade cards, battle, and bond over their favorite characters in a fun, welcoming space.
Featured Events For Adults
The library has a rich lineup of programs for adults, offering a mix of history, creativity, and community connection. Travel to Paris without leaving Council Bluffs on February 23 and discover the history, culture, and lasting allure of Paris at this engaging library presentation.
The programs to look forward to in March are the etched in stone presentation, Trash to Treasures Succulents, Startup Series: Budgeting and the Finding Gobi presentation, the true story of a man & his best friend! On March 23 Experience the Andean cultures of Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and Chile through an acoustic journey and storytelling during the Music of the Andes and Cultures of South America event. Also, learn more about Iowa History during the Iowa in the Civil War presentation and the tales of Iowa history event.
Recurring Events for Adults
The Council Bluffs Public Library hosts a wide range of recurring programs for adults. Tech help is available aswell as microsoft basics, while creative outlets include the 746 needlework club, pinterest'd in, machine embroidery class, intro to heat transfer, how to sew, gardening with native plants, and the basic soldiering series. Book lovers can dive into the mystery book club, worlds away book club, or connect with local writers in the writer’s discussion group. The library also offers a lively speaker series with bestselling authors.
For social connections, check out the conversation club, adult board game night, Saturday craft, or the coloring club. The lunch & learn series and lunch book club brings engaging topics to the table, and adventurers can join the D & D league! With so many opportunities, there’s always something happening for adults to learn, create, and connect.
