Featured Events for Kids and Teens
Teens:
In the poetry workshop for teens on April 4, writers will explore the everyday moments that spark hope and turn them into vivid, sensory-driven poems. Other programs in April include post-it note origami, sticker design, recycled beads, and beaded plants! Or on April 18 share your ideas, get feedback, and meet other creative teens during the young writers workshop!
Kids:
Coming up in April, kids events include an exhilarating carnival, a rainbow party, build it with PVC Pipes and Lincoln Logs, creating foam prints, and Fontenelle Forest: critters on the go! On April 25 all young volleyball fans can join in on the Omaha Supernovas Storytime!
Join us for Free Comic Book Day on May 4, one of the comic book industry’s most beloved and anticipated celebrations!
Recurring Events for Kids and Teens
The library offers many recurring events for young learners and their caregivers to connect. Parents can sip coffee at playdate café while kids play, or share stories during weekly storytimes and love on a leash. Don't miss yoga storytime that combines playful poses with interactive tales. Homeschool huddle provides hands-on activities, while the 3D printing workshops introduce kids to new technology! Little ones will love creative movement and music with Lori Lynn that combines music, dance, and storytime! To top it all off, the Pokémon Club brings young trainers together to trade cards, battle, and bond over their favorite characters!
Featured Events For Adults
The library has a rich lineup of programs for adults, offering a mix of history, creativity, and community connection.
In April get ready for interesting presentations about the story of The Giraffes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Lawyers in Libraries, Iowa's Rogues and Heroes, and AI and the Human Future. On April 18, read published examples of found poetry, scavenge written words from the world around you during the Found Poetry Craft event or celebrate National Poetry Month on April 27 during Poetry Night. On April 27 Join the Friends of the Council Bluffs Public Library for their annual meeting of their membership.
In May look forward to insightful presentations like Beatles in the Bluffs, speaking of death, Jennie Edmundson Hospital: history and legacy, healthy lawns, healthy people, Paul Revere's ride, and tales of Iowa history! On May 14, step back into the golden age of entertainment at Rhythm & Pep: The Vaudeville Career of the Pearson Brothers! On the 20th join in for a helpful presentation on preparing healthy food on a budget! Then, on the 30th discover how gardening can support overall well-being during flower power, where you’ll learn how it acts as a natural stress reliever while creating a beautiful space at home!
Recurring Events for Adults
The Council Bluffs Public Library hosts a wide range of recurring programs for adults. Tech help is available aswell as microsoft basics, while creative outlets include the 746 needlework club, pinterest'd in, machine embroidery class, intro to heat transfer, how to sew, gardening with native plants, and the basic soldiering series. Book lovers can dive into the mystery book club, worlds away book club, or connect with local writers in the writer’s discussion group.
For social connections, check out the conversation club, adult board game night, bingocize, Saturday craft, or the coloring club. The lunch & learn, startup series, welcome to medicare, and lunch bunch book club brings engaging topics to the table, and adventurers can join the D & D league! With so many opportunities, there’s always something happening for adults to learn, create, and connect.
