Stride for the Cause: The Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Join the movement to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia at the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, October 10. Walk alongside local families, friends, caregivers and supporters while raising funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

  • Location: Iowa Western Community College Wellness Center, 2700 College Road
  • Check-In: 9 AM
  • Promise Garden Ceremony: 10 AM
  • Walk Begins: Approximately 10:30 AM
  • Route Length: 2 miles
  • Registration: Free, but all participants must register and complete a waiver

Participants can make a personal donation and raise funds to support the fight against Alzheimer’s. Every dollar raised helps fund the Alzheimer’s Association’s care, support and research efforts.

The Promise Garden

Every registered participant receives a Promise Garden flower representing their personal connection to Alzheimer’s and dementia:

  • Blue: Someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia
  • Purple: Someone who has died from the disease
  • Yellow: Someone supporting or caring for a person living with Alzheimer’s
  • Orange: Someone supporting the cause and a world without Alzheimer’s and other dementia

Fundraising and T-Shirts

Participants who raise at least $100 will receive an official Walk to End Alzheimer’s T-shirt by mail. To receive a shirt before Walk day, the fundraising minimum must be reached at least four weeks before the event.

Volunteer Opportunities

Help make Walk day possible by volunteering with event set-up, clean-up, registration, water stops, the Promise Garden and more. Those interested in getting involved beyond event day can also join the Council Bluffs Walk Planning Committee and help recruit teams and sponsors, coordinate logistics or promote the event throughout the community.
