Three Jewish widows meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands’ graves. Ida is sweet-tempered and ready to begin a new life; Lucille is a feisty embodiment of the girl who just wants to have fun; and Doris is priggish and judgmental, particularly when Sam the butcher enters the scene. He meets the widows while visiting his wife’s grave. Doris and Lucille squash the budding romance between Sam and Ida. They are guilt-stricken when this nearly breaks Ida’s heart.

Starting November 20th, kids and families are invited to take a walk through the 100 Block as they read pages from a book displayed in business windows. To start the walk, kids and families can download the official map by clicking here or find the one posted at the starting location to follow the marked path from store to store to read the book. The story begins at Lynch's Jewelry and ends at the CB Chamber of Commerce & J's Coffee & Donuts. The route is laid out in a loop and will include a family selfie station along the way! The Giving Snowman, written by Julia Zheng, is a book about kindness and gratitude. Children can learn through the story that giving to others is a virtue that connects all of us and makes our lives more beautiful.
