Area middle and high school girls will have an opportunity on Saturday, September 17, to be inspired to develop leadership skills by attending the forum “Girl Power on Display.” The forum begins at 10:00 am, with 9:30 am registration at Boys and Girls Club Lakin Campus, 815 N 16th Street, Council Bluffs. Four outstanding women from different backgrounds and generations will share stories of their paths to success. Speakers include Barbara Sanford, MSW, Relaxation Specialist, Mount Zion Refuge Center, Dr. Malena Rousseau, Program Officer, Iowa West Foundation, DeMeria Bruce, CEO/Owner of Fulton Homes Education Center, Viridiana Almanza, Director of Programming at Latino Center of the Midlands. Girls will have an opportunity to discuss making positive life choices regarding education/training, career paths, and personal success. Girl Power is set to last two hours with parents welcome to attend. There is no fee to attend. Door prizes will be awarded. Donut Breakfast and boxed lunch.
