She's Been Working on the Railroad
September 12 | 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.Council Bluffs Public Library
UNfortunately, this event has already occurred.
Women have played important roles in the railroad industry since its earliest days in the 1840s. Many worked at stations in the late nineteenth century, including Iowa’s own Kate Shelley. By 1900, women had become an integral part of the railroad’s labor force. Rudy Daniels received his Ph.D. in Russian and Soviet Studies from the Pennsylvania State University in 1971. Since then, he has taught at colleges and universities in the U.S. and Germany. He has written numerous articles and five books. This program is free and open to the public and was made possible with help from the Council Bluffs Public Library Foundation.
