History of the Omaha and Southern Interurban Railway

November 18 | 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Council Bluffs Public Library

Join us at the library for an informative presentation on the Omaha & Southern Interurban Railway! This obscure suburban streetcar line, part of the extensive bi-state O&CB system, was Nebraska's longest operating interurban line, both in terms of distance and longevity, running 8 miles between South Omaha and Fort Crook via Bellevue from 1906 until 1931.

Through photos and documents sourced from various books and museums, Eric Miller will discuss the background of the project, how it was constructed, what the operations were like, exactly where it ran, why it was closed and what transit service has replaced it since then.
