Belles' Play Garden

Overview

Located at Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park, Belles' Play Garden is a unique destination playground inspired by the Missouri River and the natural landscapes that shape western Iowa. The play area features educational and interactive elements, interpretive seating, rich native plantings, and creative surface textures designed to encourage exploration, learning, and imaginative play.

The centerpiece of the playground is a 15-foot-tall pelican structure featuring climbing elements, slides, lookout points, and cozy play spaces. From its elevated perch, children and families can enjoy sweeping views of the Omaha skyline, the Missouri River, and the surrounding riverfront.

Belles' Play Garden was made possible through a partnership involving The Go Play Initiative, Southwest Iowa Nonprofit for Collective Impact (SINC), Iowa West Foundation, Back to the River Inc., Monstrum, Agency Landscape + Planning, and the City of Council Bluffs.
