Created by artist Betni Kalk, Rails to Trails: Evolution of Transportation celebrates the connection between Council Bluffs' rich transportation history and its growing trail network. Located along the FIRST AVE Trail, the mural features the Loess Hills, historic and modern forms of transportation, and trail users enjoying outdoor recreation, creating a colorful tribute to movement, exploration, and community.

Bright colors, native wildflowers, pollinators, and interactive photo-worthy elements make the mural both a visual landmark and a popular backdrop for family photos, senior portraits, and selfies.
