Overview
Painted by artist Dany Reyes, "Empowering Youth for Global Change" celebrates the positive impact children can have on their communities and the world around them. The mural features a diverse group of young people engaged in meaningful activities, symbolizing the power of youth to inspire change through creativity, compassion, and action.
Reyes drew inspiration from her own children and selected the location because of its proximity to their school and Cochran Park, where they spent much of their childhood. As Reyes explained, "My children were my inspiration behind this mural." The artwork reflects both a personal connection to the neighborhood and a broader message about the potential of future generations.
Located along FIRST AVE Trail, this mural is part of the City of Council Bluffs' public art initiative, supported by the Iowa West Foundation. Together with other murals along the corridor, it helps transform FIRST AVE into an outdoor gallery celebrating local history, creativity, and community pride.
