Every September, the Southwest Iowa Art Tour happening September 19 - 21 transforms the region into a celebration of creativity, connection, and community. Held annually on the third weekend of September, this grassroots event shines a spotlight on the incredible talent found throughout southwest Iowa.
Known by its motto—“Connecting rural communities through art”—the tour offers visitors the chance to experience a wide variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, fabric art, photography, wood carving, pottery, jewelry, mixed media, and more. What makes it special is its self-guided format, allowing you to explore art at your own pace while road-tripping through some of the most welcoming communities in the region. What’s New This Year
Now in its 12th year, the Southwest Iowa Art Tour has grown to include:
- 80+ artists showcasing their work
- 17 gathering places where you can meet creators and view their art
- 11 communities across southwest Iowa
Whether you’re looking to start your art collection, support local makers, or simply enjoy a weekend adventure, the tour promises something inspiring for everyone.
Council Bluffs Gathering Places
Council Bluffs is home to three must-see stops during the tour:
- Martens’ Metal Works (17867 La Vista Lane)
- The Harvester Lofts (1000 South Main Street)
- PACE at the Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center (1001 South 6th Street)

Pottawattamie County Gathering Places
In addition to Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County will also host two incredible art destinations:
- The Painted Camel Gallery (320 Main Street, Macedonia)
- Penny’s Visions Gallery (510 Front Street, Neola)
