March in Council Bluffs is packed with excitement, from high-flying kites and adrenaline-pumping monster trucks to wintertime fun and community fundraisers. Whether you’re looking to celebrate spring, cheer on athletes, or enjoy unique family experiences, there’s something for everyone this month. Here are five events you won’t want to miss in March 2026:
1. Race Into Fun at the Shamrock Shuffle

March 7 | 9:30 AM | Historic 100 Block of West Broadway
Get ready for a festive St. Patrick’s Day-themed race winding through historic downtown Council Bluffs! The Shamrock Shuffle features a certified 3-mile route, professional timing, and a live DJ to keep the energy high. Dress in your best shamrock-inspired attire and bring the whole family—including your dogs—for a fun-filled morning. All participants receive swag with registration, making this a day full of fitness, music, and fun for everyone.
2. Zip, Slide, and Sled After Dark at Crescent Hill

March 7 & March 14 | 6:30 PM | Crescent Hill at Hitchcock
Take sledding to the next level with Sledding Night at Crescent Hill at Hitchcock! Instead of hiking your sled back up the hill, you’ll ride the chair lift to the top, then launch into a fast, fun ride down the slopes on a Zibob sled—all under the glow of the night sky. It’s a fresh twist on a classic winter pastime and an easy way to turn a regular evening into something memorable.
For safety, participants must be ages 7+, and no outside sleds are allowed—all sleds are provided on site. Pre-registration is required, so plan ahead if you want in. Season passholders can sled for free, and general admission is $33 plus taxes and processing. Bundle up, bring the crew, and get ready for an evening of snow-filled fun that feels like a mini winter adventure.

Plus, the Freestyle Motocross Team delivers gravity-defying action for an unforgettable family experience.
4. Soar into Spring at Springfest

March 28 – 29 | 11 AM | Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park
Springfest is a family-friendly event features record-breaking kites from Great American Kites filling the sky, live music, food trucks, and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the riverfront. Bring your own kite or purchase one on-site, and enjoy a designated flying area for hobbyists. Dogs are welcome if leashed and well-behaved, and bike and parking options are available. First 100 cyclists receive a free T-shirt!
