With fiscal year 2022 wrapped up, we are pleased to share our annual report and what we’ve been working on this past year!
One of our most significant successes was receiving not one but two Iowa Tourism Awards during the 2022 Iowa Tourism Conference. For the second time, we took home the outstanding social media execution award and received the outstanding website award for the fourth time. Our two other nominations (outstanding community and promotional materials) came in second place.
Web traffic to UnelashCB.com more than doubled in the fiscal year. Unique users increased by 103 percent, and sessions by 107 percent. Event submissions to our community calendar reached an all-time high, with 1,390 submitted.
In January, the Iowa Tourism Office designated our office as an official Iowa Welcome Center. This huge milestone was celebrated with a ribbon cutting on May 6 during National Travel & Tourism Week.
Kathy Rosene joined our team in June to lead our sales efforts as the director of sales. With more than 30 years of tourism and CVB experience, Kathy has proved to be the right person to ramp up our sales efforts and sell Council Bluffs as an ideal location for meetings and conventions to event planners.
As a fitting end, the City of Council Bluffs collected a record high in hotel/motel taxes of nearly $3.2 million in fiscal year 2022. That represented an increase of $1.13 million or 55 percent year-over-year.
