The Charles E. Lakin Pier Is Open in Council Bluffs

A new way to experience the Missouri River has arrived in Council Bluffs! The Charles E. Lakin Pier opened August 26 with a public unveiling, giving visitors a new place to take in the river, surrounding landscape, and Omaha skyline from the heart of the riverfront.

Located near Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, the pier extends beyond the river’s edge and offers a unique vantage point for sightseeing, photography, and taking in the natural beauty of the Missouri River. The new riverfront attraction also features integrated landscaping and ambient lighting at night, adding to the experience after the sun goes down.

Explore the Riverfront

The pier is connected to the Iowa Riverfront Trail, making it easy to add to a walk or bike ride along the riverfront. Bring your bike or scooter, or simply enjoy the walk down the trail to check out this new riverfront attraction.
