Borman Family Treetop Walk

Alert

Grand Opening: September 19, 2026

Overview

The Borman Family Treetop Walk offers a new perspective on the Council Bluffs riverfront, taking visitors above the ground and into the tree canopy along an elevated walking path. Accessible from the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, the half-mile path winds through the trees, leading to and around the MidAmerican Energy Adventure Tower.

Weathered steel railings and wooden decking give the walkway a distinctive design that complements the surrounding natural landscape. Along the way, visitors can watch for birds and other wildlife from a different vantage point, while informational panels integrated into the railings share fun facts about the plants, animals, and environment surrounding the path.

Seating areas spaced throughout the Treetop Walk provide places to slow down, observe activity in the canopy, and take in glimpses of the Missouri River from select viewpoints. The combination of elevated perspectives, natural surroundings, and opportunities to learn makes the walk an experience worth exploring at its own pace rather than simply a path from one attraction to another.

The experience can continue at the MidAmerican Energy Adventure Tower, where observation decks take visitors even higher for expansive views of the riverfront. Those looking for more adventure can take the thrills up a notch with the tower's rock climbing and caving experiences, creating an easy progression from nature and wildlife viewing to a more adventurous riverfront experience.
