Pottawattamie County Genealogical Society Mural

Overview

The Pottawattamie County Genealogical Society Mural celebrates the people, places, and moments that have shaped Council Bluffs throughout its history. Created by local artist Cory Peters, the large photographic collage combines images submitted by community members with photographs from personal collections and the Council Bluffs Public Library's Special Collections, creating a visual timeline of the community's past.

Located on the exterior of the Pottawattamie County Genealogical Society building, the mural invites visitors to explore local history through a unique blend of historic images and storytelling. The artwork serves as both a public art installation and a tribute to the generations of residents whose stories helped shape Council Bluffs.

The mural was made possible through support from the Iowa West Foundation and The 712 Initiative as part of a neighborhood walkability and placemaking effort.
