Get ready to paws and reflect on the tail-wagging goodness that is the Valley View Dog Park! While it officially opened last November, the City of Council Bluffs is now kicking off the park’s busy season with a Grand Opening Paw-ty, and you and your furry friends are invited to join the fun! So leash up your pups and join the celebration on Monday, April 28 from 5–7 p.m. for a howling good time!
Forget the usual ribbon cutting—this year, event organizers are digging into something a little greener! In honor of Arbor Day, they'll be planting a tree to celebrate the season of growth and the flourishing dog park that’s become the bark of the town. The tree-planting ceremony kicks things off at 5 p.m., but that’s just the start of the tail-wagging fun.

What’s on the paw-gram?
🐾 Tree planting ceremony at 5 p.m. – Watch as the City plants a lasting symbol of the furry community’s growth.
🌮 Food truck for the humans – Because pups aren’t the only ones who need a snack!
🍧 Snow cone truck – Cool off after all the running and playing (pups and humans alike!).
📸 Photo stop for your pup – We know your dog is a model, so strike a pose! Best sit, stay, and smile wins some serious street cred.
Plus, with limited parking available, consider walking the Valley View Trail or bringing your pup for a stroll from nearby neighborhoods to join in on the fun!
This park has been fetching attention since it opened last fall, offering a spacious 1.2-acre haven for pups of all sizes. There’s a large area for big dogs and a cozy section for little ones, complete with “logstacles” for climbing, balancing, and general doggy shenanigans.
“This park has already seen great use by the community, and we are pleased to officially recognize its opening and the start of the busy season,” said Mayor Walsh. “The tree planting is a meaningful way to mark Arbor Day and highlight our ongoing commitment to parks and green spaces.”
So, leash up your four-legged friends and join the City of Council Bluffs for a paws-itively fantastic celebration at the Valley View Dog Park!
