Council Bluffs' premier riverfront spot is Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park! This is a perfect spot to enjoy an afternoon with plenty of public access green space, stunning views, and a brand-new playground. The park serves as a gateway to the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, allowing you to stand in two states simultaneously as you cross the Mighty Mo!

Belles' Play Garden is a recent addition to the park, featuring a series of Missouri-River-inspired play and educational elements. You won't miss the 15-foot tall pelican play feature where kiddos can climb, slide, and enjoy the lookout perch.

The park is home to an assortment of community events. Be sure to check out our calendar of events to see what's happening on the riverfront!

Experience the Missouri River by walking, biking, or skating the Iowa Riverfront Trail. It features excellent views and is accessible at Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park. Use the trail for biking across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge or using it to explore the Narrows River Park, where you can fish, watch the river flow, or enjoy a picnic.
