Tracks of Time Mural

Overview

Stretching 560 feet—one full city block—the Tracks of Time mural is the largest and longest in Council Bluffs. The design spans 21 train cars, with each car serving as a “mini mural” that tells part of the story of steel. From its cosmic origins to its role in shaping industry, railroads, and community life, the mural forms a timeline that blends art, history, and imagination.

The City of Council Bluffs has implemented a mural program along the newly constructed FIRST AVE Trail. This project, administered by the City of Council Bluffs with generous financial support from the Iowa West Foundation, has transformed FIRST AVE into a place of artistic expression.
