Overview
Bright, bold, and bursting with life, Unleashing Flower Power is a vibrant four-sided mural celebrating the native plants, pollinators, and natural beauty of southwest Iowa. Created by local artist Betni Kalk of Tumusini Art, LLC, the mural transforms the exterior of the Unleash Council Bluffs office and official Iowa Welcome Center into a colorful showcase of art and nature.
Completed in September 2026, the artwork draws inspiration from the native landscaping surrounding the building, installed in partnership with Lucky Toad Restorative Gardens. Kalk collaborated with the landscaping experts to incorporate recognizable plants, butterflies, insects, and wildlife found on the property and throughout the region. Visitors can also spot Council Bluffs' iconic black squirrel woven into the design.
The mural celebrates Council Bluffs' designation as a Bee City USA community and its commitment to supporting pollinators and native habitats. Visitors are encouraged to explore all four sides of the building, admire the surrounding native gardens, and discover how public art and environmental stewardship come together in this uniquely Council Bluffs experience.
