The City of Council Bluffs is excited to announce the return of Pawp-Up Pup Parks at Cochran Park, a series of temporary dog parks that give local pups and their people a chance to play, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors together.

Pawp-Up Pup Parks will take place on the last Wednesday of each month through October, from 5–7 PM. During these two-hour events, a corner of Cochran Park is transformed into a fenced dog park with plenty of open space to roam. Exact dates include:

  • July 30
  • August 27
  • September 24
  • October 29

“These events are all about building community,” said Ashley Kruse, Communications and Events Manager for the City of Council Bluffs. “We love to see people come together with their dogs off leash—it creates such a joyful atmosphere.”

While the pop-up parks are temporary two-hour event, they highlight the City’s ongoing commitment to pet-friendly spaces. Residents attending the events are reminded to bring water for their dogs, ensure pets are up-to-date on vaccinations, and clean up after them. Dogs must be leashed upon entering and exiting the park, and handlers must be at least 16 years old.

In addition to the seasonal pop-up series, the City recently opened the new Valley View Dog Park, a permanent off-leash park located at Valley View Park. The facility features separate play areas for large and small dogs, natural play elements, and water access—offering year-round fun for local canines.

Whether enjoying a pop-up event at Cochran Park or visiting the new Valley View Dog Park, Council Bluffs continues to provide safe, engaging spaces for dogs and their owners to enjoy.
