Urban & Community Trails
FIRST AVE Trail (Council Bluffs, 2.5 miles, paved)
Art meets adventure on this former rail corridor! Murals, trail plazas, shaded seating, and access to Cochran Park make this a community favorite.
Iowa Riverfront Trail (7 miles, paved)
Enjoy sweeping views of the Missouri River and downtown Omaha. This trail links up with parks like Big Lake, River’s Edge, and the Western Historic Trails Center.
Indian Creek Trail (3.5 miles, paved)
A gentle trail perfect for walking, biking, or just soaking up some nature near downtown. Bonus: it connects with Lake Manawa’s trails!
Valley View Trail (10.5 miles, paved)

Celebrate National Trails Day by giving back! Join the Loess Hills Nordic Ski Patrol at Hitchcock Nature Center to help reroute part of the Moonseed Trail, which was damaged by erosion. It’s a great way to support your favorite trails and break a sweat doing it! Sign up today—spots are limited!
