In 2004, the Iowa West Foundation — an organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and building a stronger, more vibrant Council Bluffs — funded a visionary, community-wide public art master planning process. This effort ultimately led to the creation of the Iowa West Public Art initiative, a program that continues to leave a lasting mark on the city. Thanks to this innovative initiative, Council Bluffs is now home to an exceptional and diverse collection of 12 pieces of public art, crafted by internationally acclaimed artists who bring global prestige to the local landscape.
Explore these inspiring works at your own pace by taking a self-guided tour through the Otocast Public Art app. This interactive digital guide not only provides directions to each art piece but also lets you hear directly from the artists themselves, offering unique insights into their creative process and the stories behind their work. Whether you're a curious visitor or a local looking to rediscover your city, this fun and engaging app is available for download on both Android and iOS.
