Must-Know Tips for a Safe & Fun Fourth
A little planning can go a long way for a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July. Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and dress for the weather with comfortable shoes and breathable clothes. Bring ear protection for kids, and be mindful of pets—fireworks can be overwhelming for both.
In Council Bluffs, fireworks may only be discharged on July 3 & 4, between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. You must be 18 or older, and fireworks should only be used on your property or with the owner's permission. Stay 50 feet from people and buildings, use a flat surface, and keep water nearby. Don’t relight duds, and soak used fireworks before throwing them out.
Local ordinances may vary, so residents outside Council Bluffs should check their city’s regulations. Remember—fireworks can be distressing for neighbors, pets, and veterans. Celebrate safely and respectfully to help everyone enjoy the holiday.
